Travel Immunization
Travel Immunizations for Children and families who will be traveling internationally.
The doctor’s at Suburban Pediatrics are eager to help our patients with their travel vaccine and immunization needs. In order to do so, patients must have a consultation to discuss the immunizations and vaccines required. Just as doctors are reluctant to prescribe other medications without evaluation and assessing the patient, they are unable to simply order vaccines based on parental request.
Patients may obtain travel information by one of the following:
1. Global Health Services, Inc,
(513) 777-8111 or http://www.ghs-inc.com/, will provide consultation and evaluate vaccine requirements. This cost is generally not covered by insurance. GHS will provide us with a written assessment and recommendations. We will then review your child’s medical chart and order vaccines that may be necessary.
Many insurance companies will cover vaccines provided by SPA for travel.
Suburban pediatrics will provide travel immunizations and medications under the following conditions:
2. Prior to your visit please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website at www.cdc.gov/travel.
a. Please print up a copy of the most recent CDC immunization recommendations for the region you will be traveling to
b. Our office must receive the CDC recommendations that you print up at least two weeks prior to your appointment.
c. Please schedule an appointment with our office
d. We will review your child’s medical chart and order any necessary immunizations that you may need.
e. Please be aware that some immunizations, such as Yellow Fever, can only be obtained through the Health department.
